What does this mean for our customers?

The product range of the IBB Group includes grants, advisory services, loans, guarantees and equity investments in the areas of economic, real estate, and labour market promotion, as well as refinancing through the Treasury. Funding decisions focus on the impact achieved, such as the creation of jobs or new housing units. Each funding programme of the IBB Group is commissioned by the State of Berlin, ensuring the involvement of a wide range of stakeholders in the product development process. The funding offerings are designed to be innovative, competent and responsible, ensuring that all potential beneficiaries have non-discriminatory and, where possible, digital access to funding. By referencing the SDGs, the IBB Group highlights how its financing contributes to the development of our environment in a sustainable way.

Various relevant stakeholders are involved in the internal development of products across the different business areas and funding programmes. In addition, the IBB Group engages with its network of partners from the business community, civil society and the public sector (including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Berlin Partner, the Energy Agency, environmental organisations and social enterprises).

Since 2022, the IBB Group has systematically integrated ESG risks into the lending process. We use a special ESG score to assess both new business and existing customers on the basis of environmental, social and governance criteria. Our regular ESG analysis ensures that sustainability risks are transparently identified and taken into account in credit decisions.

IBB Ventures and IBB Capital support innovative Berlin-based start-ups and SMEs through equity funding and investments. Together with private partners, we promote sustainable growth and strengthen Berlin as a leading start-up hub.
