Our Commitment to Society
Donations and Sponsorship
The IBB Group’s donation and sponsorship activities are managed within the IBB. We take our responsibility to society very seriously and engage in many areas—social issues, youth, education, seniors, culture, economy, and the environment. We are actively committed to improving the economic, ecological, and social living conditions in Berlin, thereby driving the sustainable development of the city forward.
In 2023 alone, IBB supported projects and initiatives with approximately €42,000. By the first half of 2024 (as of June 30), around €10,000 had already been donated. Since 2013, IBB has donated around €500,000 to charitable causes.

Our Engagement in Detail
Since 2010, we have been supporting the Berlinische Galerie, a museum for modern and contemporary art, photography, and architecture, on an annual basis. In addition to our involvement in the museum's circle of supporters, we also co-founded the IBB Video Room with the Berlinische Galerie, which provides a platform for artists to present their work for one month in the 12x12 format. Each month allows for a new exploration of works that address media, political, and social issues. Special emphasis is placed on giving voice to marginalized perspectives and making visible the effects of power structures.
Since 2007, we have also been awarding the "IBB Photography Prize" annually to outstanding students and graduates of the University of the Arts Berlin who graduated no more than five years ago. Young artists are invited to participate in a limited competition. The "IBB Photography Prize" is a joint initiative of the IBB and the Freunde der Universität der Künste Berlin e.V. | Karl Hofer Gesellschaft and is endowed with 5,000 euros.
We also regularly donate to the Paul-Gerhardt Foundation, which supports social services and care facilities, as well as to the Reading Buddy Program of VBKI, which provides children with access to books and education through volunteer readers.
In addition to these selected examples, the IBB Staff Council has been organizing volunteer donation drives for clothing and other items for many years. It also donates to children and youth centers, including Tannenhof e.V., which helps young people at risk of addiction, and Straßenkinder e.V., which supports homeless and at-risk children and young people.
IBB does not make party donations or contributions of any kind to politicians.
